SJUFC Coaching Staff

Teaching and learning the game of soccer is a process.  It is important to understand and recognize how the skills are learned at each age are connected to preparing the player to move into the next phase of their development, to know what the next level of play is, and the necessary tools that the players require to move on.

 

SJUFC coaching staff requires a minimum National D License AND the National Youth License.  Coaching staff will also possess a minimum collegiate player experience with most having played at the professional level as well.  Coaches will apply each year for positions and will be selected by the clubs Director of Coaching (DOC).  All coaches must show empathy, understanding and a sense of caring for al players and have fun along the way.  Qualities that SJUFC coaches are selected for include but are not limited to; a vast knowledge and playing experience of the game, the ability to relate to and motivate players, willingness to commit the necessary time and energy to running a competitive team, willingness to follow and comply with the philosophy of SJUFC all while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.  Most important is how well each coach is able to develop the players.

Coaching duties include but are not limited to:

·         Management/coaching of individual teams in a positive and caring manner.

·         Holding a minimum of three sessions a week.

·         Coaching for league games and tournaments (4-8 depending on teams age).

·         Attending monthly coaches meetings.

·         Holding team meetings as requested by the club DOC

·         Participating in club try-out?s and player evaluations.

·         Supporting decisions made by the SJUFC DOC and Executive Board

·         Handing in written session plans on a bi-weekly basis for review by the club DOC and Executive Board if necessary.

Coaches will always maintain and represent themselves with loyalty and integrity to the SJUFC program and its student athletes.
